“If They Couldn’t Come Here, I Worry They Wouldn’t Eat”, Volunteer Sissy Poland
Sissy Poland did not hesitate when asked why she volunteers for Loaves & Fishes’ pantry at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church.
“Food is important to everyone, I see it as a great human need. If they couldn’t come here I worry they wouldn’t eat.
She especially worries about children and seniors, those who are most dependent.
Sissy loves volunteering at the pantry where she helps clients shop for a week’s worth of groceries and helps stock pantry shelves. She feels that feeding our fellow neighbors is a critically important ministry.
Clients often tell her that they are grateful for being treated with kindness and “I hear a lot of thank you’s and that ‘you never make me feel poor.'”
