Partnership with Harvest Haul Provides Fresh Produce

Lori Brantner - Harvest Haul Nourish Up provides groceries and meals to our neighbors in need.   One of the ways we are able to do so is through community food drives that allow us to collect, store, and distribute non-perishable groceries to thousands in our community.   At the same time, we know that it is critical to also provide fresh, healthy, nourishing foods – foods such as fresh produce that add important vitamins and nutrients and expand healthy options.  One community program with a great mission that makes this possible is Harvest Haul. Harvest Haul does just what its name says...

There’s Still Time to Donate to Scouting for Food

Thanks to the generosity of so many in our community, and the hard work of hundreds of scouts, scout leaders, and parents of Mecklenburg County Council of Boy Scouts, Scouting for Food 2024 will provide well over 100,000 lbs of food to neighbors in need! Meanwhile, tractor-trailer trucks filled with food donations from multiple collection sites throughout the county continue to come into our warehouse. There is STILL TIME to help! Simply text SCOUT4FOOD to 44321 or make your online donation here. Each $1 donated equals 4 pounds of food! Many, many thanks to Mecklenburg Co. Council of Boy Scouts, WCNC Charlotte, Harris Teeter, Stegall Trucking, and Subaru South Charlotte who make it possible for Nourish Up to provide groceries to thousands of neighbors!

Nourish Up Serves Highest Number of Neighbors in 48-Year History

In 2023, Nourish Up (Formerly Loaves & Fishes/Friendship Trays) provided groceries to 137,806 people - the highest in our 48-year history. Almost half were children and seniors. This is a 29% increase over the 106,000 we served in 2022. The highest number previously served was in 2012 at the height of the recession - a then record breaking 126,000 people. Additionally, we delivered 128,261 medically tailored meals through our Meals on Wheels program. This dramatic increase in demand is not only a result of higher food, fuel and housing costs but also cuts to several pandemic era federal programs this past year...
