All Things Made New
We have had a springtime transformation at our pantry on The Plaza. They have operated for 12 years out of a truly small church pantry. With the help of a generous anonymous donor, a much larger space has been deconstructed and reconstructed. The pantry is now light, airy and able to serve many more families.
And in their new space volunteers now have room to offer Client Choice. I was lucky to be among those present on their first day of Client Choice. Of course 7 families arrived the minute the pantry opened, including a family of 11 (yes, 11)! The first hour was barely controlled chaos but no one minded waiting.
As I escorted folks through the pantry to choose their food there was a spirit of joy – volunteers proud of their new space and clients delighted to be able to make their own choices! Loaves & Fishes has been distributing food to families in crisis for 37 years. How refreshing to know there are still things to learn, change and improve on.
