Mecklenburg Co. Scouts Go Scouting for Food Saturday, February 5th
Saturday, February 5, the Mecklenburg County Council of the Boy Scouts of America will go Scouting for Food. Scouts will go door-to-door throughout Mecklenburg Co. collecting non-perishable food items for Loaves & Fishes/Friendship Trays. Thanks to the 346,000 lbs of food collected in last year’s Scouting for Food Drive, Loaves & Fishes/Friendship Trays was able to respond to the increased hunger needs of our community due the continuing pandemic.
The week prior to Feb. 5, Mecklenburg Co. Boy Scouts will distribute bright red Scouting for Food door hangers, generously provided by Harris Teeter, in neighborhoods throughout the county. If you receive a door hanger, simply fill a bag or box with non-perishable food items and leave outside your home by 9:00 am for pick up by the Scouts on Saturday, Feb. 5th.
If you do not receive a door hanger, you can still give!! You can drop off food donations at any of the locations listed below on Saturday, Feb. 5, 10am-3pm & Sunday, Feb. 6, 12:30pm-2:30pm (at certain locations indicated below) OR at the Loaves & Fishes/Friendship Trays warehouse Monday – Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm located at 648 Griffith Rd.
If you prefer, you can make a financial donation here directly to Loaves & Fishes/Friendship Trays or text 44321 on your mobile phone and enter the code: Scout4Food.

Ada Jenkins Center – 212 Gamble St., Davidson (Saturday, Feb. 5 only drop-off site)

Scouting for Food is the largest community-wide food drive of the year for Loaves & Fishes/Friendship Trays and we depend on food donated to restock pantry shelves depleted during the busy holiday season. Last year, Loaves & Fishes/Friendship Trays provided a week’s worth of groceries and meals to over 80,000 people in Mecklenburg County. That’s enough to fill Bank of America stadium – almost half were children.
Scouting for Food is sponsored by Mecklenburg County Council of The Boy Scouts of America, Harris Teeter, WCNC Charlotte and Stegall Trucking.
